Green Tea’s Negative Effects

Posted on

Everybody agrees that green tea is among the healthiest beverages available. However, if we consume too much of it, it can harm our kidneys. It is uncommon for humans to get very negative effects from consuming green tea. Our livers can also be harmed by it. It should be noted that, as long as you don’t consume excessive amounts of the beverage, its health benefits exceed its drawbacks.

According to experts, you are safe to consume up to 10 cups of green tea each day. When you use supplements, the issues start to appear. These might have up to 50 times as much polyphenols as a cup of tea.

When animals are given high levels of polyphenols, liver toxicity can result, according to studies done on rats, mice, and dogs.

Believe it or not, green tea includes caffeine, which presents another issue with consumption. Green tea should be avoided if you have caffeine sensitivity since it can cause sleeplessness, gastrointestinal distress, nausea, and even agitation.

It would be best to avoid drinking it since it contains vitamin K if you must take blood thinners like coumarin or warfarin. Find out how much of the beverage is safe for you to consume while also asking your doctor whether you may consume it.

Aspirin and green tea should not be combined.

It is not advisable to use supplements while pregnant because they are not strictly monitored. The extracts and additives can be problematic; the tea itself is good.

The catechins in hot green tea may prevent colds and the flu, particularly if you drink it with lemon and honey instead of sugar. The beverage’s caffeine content, though, may prevent the body from absorbing iron. However, the effects of the tea can be lessened by adding fresh lemon juice to your cup of tea. Eat plenty of vitamin C-rich foods, such as oranges, broccoli, other brassicas, and liver, to battle this potential iron deficiency.

If you’re watching your weight, the sweets you pour into your cup will increase the number of calories in your beverage. A cup of unsweetened green tea contains no calories.

Basically, if you are healthy and drink this in moderation, it should be a drink that promotes your health. Don’t consume excessive amounts of the substance and exercise common sense.
